Australia’s first Women Leaders’ Roundtable for osteoporosis - World Osteoporosis Day 2003
Ten prominent women gathered in Sydney on October 20, 2003 to address fracture prevention at Australia’s first ever Women Leaders’ Roundtable for osteoporosis.
This special event, marking World Osteoporosis Day (WOD), involved female leaders from the nation’s medical, business, political, communications, entertainment and sporting industries, delivering individual presentations on osteoporosis in a closed media forum.
The Roundtable, chaired by journalist Maxine McKew, concluded with all members signing and submitting a giant fractured bone and letter to the Federal Government seeking further support for the prevention of fractures.
An impressive list of participants have volunteered their time to support this important women’s health issue today, by addressing the human cost and economic burden of this debilitating disease. The women included Senator the Hon. Kay Patterson, Maxine McKew, Pru Goward, Amanda Keller, Barbara Holborow, Dr Linda Ferris, Dr Gabrielle Casper, Jane Saville, Belinda Green and Meredith Hellicar.
The Roundtable was followed by a WOD luncheon for more than 300 business women at the Four Seasons Hotel.
