The Meeting was granted:

• 17 European CME credits (ECMEC)* by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME).
• 20 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).** Local speakers will be accredited 23 CPD points.

Abstracts and Programme

Accepted abstracts of the Meeting were published as a supplement to Osteoporosis International.  Abstract deadline was August 10, 2012

Thehigh quality scientific programme was of interest to a broad range of physicians and health professionals, including general practitioners and internists, rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, endocrinologists, geriatricians, radiologists, pharmacists, as well as rehabilitation specialists and physiotherapists.The learning objectives of the Meeting were to train medical professionals and researchers so that they are better equipped to handle the growing epidemic of musculoskeletal diseases. The programme provided a concise and practical overview of these diseases, including the latest advances in their prevention, diagnosis and treatment. As well as the latest regional research, the programme includes current topics of specific relevance to health professionals in the region.

*European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME)

The 'International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.

The 'IOF Regionals – 3rd Asia-Pacific Osteoporosis meeting  is designated for a maximum of (or 'for up to') 17 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme.

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognized by the UEMS-EACCME for ECMEC credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

** Malaysian Medical Ass. Credits: Local registered doctors who are claiming CPD points under the meeting must record their names and new NRIC numbers clearly on the attendance form provided on site. The Organising Committee will not be held liable for unsuccessful claims of CPD points due to incorrect or illegible names and new NRIC numbers recorded on the attendance form.
